More LO's....

Friday night crop night - keeps me motivated to produce pages!! Too bad it's only once a month...

This page is about me as the Household CEO - Job description is as follows -

Printed on transparancies for the journaling.....

Objective: Performs all essential functions of running a household to include but not limited to the following duties, titles, and qualifications:
{none of which will pertain to yourself}

My "job duties" are listed on a transparancy - I am sure I do more than this - but this is a good start....

A page about my son Jake who is an identical twin, and luckily- he is completely different from his brother. I am glad he has his individuality and not always thought of as "twin" or someone who looks like someone else...

Here is a closeup of the emby's.... I used the end of an embossing stick with my paint to add dots to everything after I embossed the swirly on the page...

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!!! I hope we get a little sunshine - we could use the fresh air and the outside time!!

Scrapping the past....

So when my kids were little, I was far from what I would call a good scrapbooker. But I have since found my style and with so many great sketches on the net now adays - there is no excuse not to go back and scrap my kid's baby pictures.

This page is my boys at a photo shoot at Easter time - we eventually had to bribe them with snacks and cell phones to get them to stay in one place together :-) Twins are hard to photograph!!

Here is a closup of some of the emby's...

This is my daughter's preschool picture - and of course she is 15 years old now - so this picture always brings a tear to my eyes. Ahhhh, the days of scrunchies.... I miss scrunchies..... Why can't we still wear scrunchies??

Here is the emby closeup....

Enjoy your weekend~~~

Taking it further....

Okay - so I worked on jazzing up my House Mouse card today - and here are the end results. I added paper piercing and brads selectively. You can see the difference - the first card looked nice but the second card looks more finished and more interesting....

I am going to work on changing up the ornament card soon and I'll post my after results on that one too...

Sketch challenges this week...

Working Jen D's sketch this week. I feel like this card is unfinished - but I am gonna leave it at that. I would have added red brads to the photo corner and some piercing to the stamped image square. Heck, now that I am thinking about it - I might just do it and repost the difference later. It's a good lesson in "finishing touches" to your card and taking it to the next level - so stay tuned.

Here's the sketch I followed for this one -

Mojo Monday's:

Here is my entry for Mojo33 - my first time working Julie's Monday sketches. I love her blog and I will definitely be looking forward to Monday's from now on!! Here is her website address: http://poeticartistry.blogspot.com/

So I had to scramble to make this card in less than an hour because I realized I wanted it to be a Christmas card with a removable ornament - and the submissions for PCMag for Christmas cards ended in an hour and a half. So scramble, scramble, scramble - but that's when I do my best work! So here is my card:

Here's the sketch I followed:

Here is an ATC that I made for an online swap - it uses the SU! Priceless set and the "in colors" for one more time :-) I will miss them when they retire this year - I think they are my favorite so far!!

I hope your week treats you good! Oh - and please pray for my state to have a little bit more sunshine - we have only had a few days since Fall so far!!! Yuckers.....

I am getting some of my work Published!!!

I can't believe it - I finally decided to try to submit some of my cards for publication this month - and Paper Crafts Magazine contacted me to tell me that one of my cards will be featured in an upcoming special issue of Card Creations volume 6 in September... Wowwie - that is pretty big news for me!!! Getting my work in a magazine was one of my "top 100 things to do before I die" - so I guess I can cross this one off!!! Hopefully this is just the beginning of good things to come for me. We really needed some good news around our house - so this news really boosted my spirits...

Anyway - here are some cute cupcake flip top cards that I made tonight. I was fortunate enough to be inspired by scraperlinsey online and knew that I had to make something like she did. Cupcakes are a pretty big trend right now in paper crafting - but I haven't committed to buying any stamps just yet. So, I thought I would try a little paper piecing instead! All papers are Stampin' Up, and you can find the pattern that I followed below the pics. I used decorative edge scissors for the top of my baking cups rather than free handing it, but I think it would be cute to be a little uneven.... For the polka dots, I just put on some Marvy Uchida and puffed it up with my heat gun. I topped them off with some SU! 2-way glue and some flock. There is SU! chunky clear glitter on the left one and a Q & Co. button on top.
Well, I hardly EVER case a card - but this idea was just too cute to pass up - and it is satisfying my want to purchase all the cupcake stamps I can get my hands on - for now :-) However, it is not satisfying my sweet tooth :-) Have a great weekend!!!

Creations this weekend...

Here are some of my creations this weekend so far...

Made this one for my mother for Mother's Day (shhhh don't tell her)... I used SU!'s sticky cuts letters and beads in green. I added a Heidi Swapp flower and ribbon in Regal Rose. I think it needs more, but I am still thinking on this one.... What do you think??

This one was for JenD's sketch challenge this week. I rotated the sketch and added my own twists and turns... See the sketch below.... Kraft, whisper white, and wild wasabi papers used.
BG is painted and stamped corrugated cardboard from some goodies my boys recently gobbled up... Now I can alter the can too.... :-)

The sketch I worked with for this card....

An RAK I am sending off.... Bugs and kisses set, Jersey Shore dp, pumpkin pie dp and ribbon all SU!....

Family Milestones: So my twins had their first soccer game today and I barely got shots of their actual faces, but here is a good action shot of the Tigers working together to steal the ball... We are the Tigers, mighty mighty tigers.... They were all very inspired by the Frosted Flakes commercial when choosing their team name :-)

Barely got any good shots in before the rain came pouring down. Seriously - I am really hating on this place they call Washington... I am standing there trying to watch my boys play. Picture it - I have on a heavy coat with my hood up over a winter hat, gloves, scarf, fur lined "ugg" style boots, holding an umbrella in the mud. And I am seriously still shivering and freezing my patootie off... Ugghhh, I just want to live some place dry- the warmth would just be a bonus....
All the pictures of Jake are just of his hooded sweatshirt covering his chilly little face while he had his hands pulled into his sleeves for warmth - poor kid was like a popsicle out there.... Luckily Sam didn't mind the cold and really got into the game... At least Jake wasn't lying around on the ground eating grass today like he does at practice... I am pretty sure that sports aren't his "thing" but he is at least getting a chance to play for now and he can choose not to play later on. I just knew there would be quite a fight if I signed up Sam and not Jake. Enjoy your Sunday!! :-)

Embossing resist step by step...

So here is the info on how I created the card with embossing tonight.

Stamp it up - First I stamped a background stamp in a somewhat lighter color than I will be putting over it. (Although I hate how this Groovy Guava color turned out - a little too orange for me - but what you gonna do?!).

As you can see - a far from perfect impression - but I have a plan for that. I don't necessarily like to do things twice - rather - I call them "happy accidents" and try to work with my mistakes...

Stamp it up some more - Next I stamped my main image (in this case the large flower from SU! Fabulous Flowers set) in VersaMark ink directly over the background impression. You could use whatever ink you normally use for embossing as long as it is clear in nature.

Powder it up - I poured my clear embossing powder over my clear ink covering the entire impression from the flower.

Heat it up - and watch it pop. This is the fun part. Make sure the entire powder area is "melted"....

Ink it up... I usually start with a sponge dauber to get into the intricate parts of the image first to bring out the details of the stamp...

Brayer it up - I then covered the entire area with the darker ink using my brayer. (Tried to get it as even as possible :-)

Wipe it up- I use a baby wipe to clean up the image a bit and bring it back to clear.

Dress it up - Here's my finished card with tons of dressing up. What can I say, I don't know when is when... I covered up my poorly stamped background image with a second piece of ribbon. Sometimes repeating an embellishment is a good design element that creates consistency in your theme. I would have used textured C/S with this one for more interest in the negative space, but I didn't have any. You can just stamp a canvas or linen background to fix that - (if you remember to do it before you start to glue... :-)
Thanks for looking and I hope you find this example helpful! Now get to stampin!!

My DD and me....

She's 5'8" (or so she says, I think she's taller :-) now and spunky as can be!! How quickly they grow - I swear!! Just some silly pics from her visit over my birthday weekend. And no, I am not pregnant - my shirt just makes me look that way!! Gotta go with the baggy style whenever I can to "de-emphasize" the girls.....

Jen's sketch entry...

Here is my card for JenD's sketch challenge this week. It's a little more shabby chic than I am used to - but I am all about making things look old and vintage right now.... Must be because I am old now - (I just turned 35 on Sunday...). I don't think I have even said that out loud yet... ughhh....

CPS sketch #58

Not much stamping on this one this week, I am kind of in a paper piecing mood....
